Dear Noah. Growing up is easy to do for a great and wonderful kid like you.

It's almost your fifth birthday. In four sleeps you will be five. I wanted to tell you about some of my favorite moments and memories with you real quick, while its still all fresh in mommy's busy little head.

1. You love money. Being right. Being funny. Learning. Winning. Telling Benjamin (and me and dad) what to do. Taking photos. Drawing your family. Mister Maker ANYTHING. Chip n Dale rescue Rangers. Matilda. More Mister Maker.

2. You love macaroni and cheese. Hate brussel sprouts. Love sushi, jelly rings, rice and gravy, spaghetti bolognaise and mash. You don't like meat and for a very long time you wouldn't eat it at all. You still won't eat hot dogs, sausages or chicken.

3. You're affectionate. Curious. Hilarious (but you don't like us laughing at you). You love sports and ball and frisbee and dancing and when you're big you want to do boxing like daddy.

4. Your memory is your biggest asset. You can remember absolutely everything with perfect clarity. You can spell and write and do sums and count and remember songs and small details and memorise road signs and baking ingredients and big words like hypochondriac, xenophobia, observant, irrational and consequence. You learned how to tell the time in a few minutes. You never forget anything. Ever.

5. You love to put on shows like wizard and magic shows and play pretend and you love attention. Your confidence is going to get you absolutely everywhere - hold on to it tightly!

6. You're extremely practical and interested in how everything works. You watch documentaries on the human body and outer space and you won't accept anything without understanding it.

7. You love your brother with all your heart, even though you're a bossy bum, you have taught him so much - from helping him pronounce words to counting to songs - you share absolutely everything. When little Bunny came along you couldn't wait for him to walk and talk and grow in to a playmate for you. You cheered him on as he took his first steps and fetched his nappies and helped him potty train by showing him how. Your love and compassion for your brother is completely beautiful.

8. You hate being wrong. And when we don't listen to you. You know that you're important and you want everyone to know it. You KNOW when you're right and heaven help the entire house and neighborhood when you get a time out. Your ego and pride is your most sensitive spot.

9. You're popular. You have a lot of friends and make new ones very easily. You're in love with a girl at school and talk about her every single day. You tell me when she wore a pretty dress or shoes with sparkles and you tell me that you told her that her dress is pretty but she never says your shirts are nice, but you don't mind.

10. You always get your way. I don't know how or why but if you want something, guaranteed you'll get it. Maybe not straight away, maybe not even this month but you never forget and even if you have to hang up ten loads of washing and gather enough pocket money to get it, you never ever ever ever give up on anything.

Most importantly you're easy to love, interesting to talk to, fun to play with and your heart is the very biggest in all the world. I am so deeply in love with every little part of you that it makes me burst in every pocket and facet of my soul. You're almost five and getting stronger and smarter and brighter every single moment. I love you so much Noah, and I hope that I show you that every day, with every word and every expression on my face and every little thing that I try and teach and show you. And when you gather on to my lap and wrap your arms around me and tell me that I'm the best most beautiful mommy in the world you make me believe you. Thank you for letting us witness and share your life, and for giving us another year of happiness with you.
