It's the most wonderful time of the year. Our holiday 2013: Betty's Bay

We're staying in Betty's Bay for the holidays, and the boys are loving every single second. We've been in and out and other family have been coming and going and it's all this big little rush of festivities and activities. Noah and Benjamin, you guys are in your absolute element with the big garden, the slip n slide daddy got you, the sprinkler, frisbees, beach, river, walks, your new toys and loads of play pretend in between. I'm sitting in the dining room now and you've got hold of the poker set in the lounge. You're playing 'bank bank' and you're super in to it. I don't know how to summarize our little holiday so far, but let's try. A few highlights

1. Having the whole family together. The boys have really bonded with everyone and we've all loved playing with the littles and spoiling them with games, toys, plays and treats. Also, really nice for mommy to have so many hands around so that I can indulge in little sleep-ins and tanning.

2. I've been going for a few runs in the mornings or afternoons. Jogging along the coast surrounded by mountains and fynbos has really relaxed me. After a little bit of pushing, I can now jog non-stop for 1km at a time and my longest session so far was this morning - I was out for 40 minutes and pushed 4.5km. This from a girl that could barely run 20m without wanting to pass out. I'm totally proud of myself. Getting a little bit stronger and fitter every day.

3. On Christmas morning we made reindeer tracks on the grass with maize meal. We tied all the presents in to a big sheet and ate all the cookies and cucumber that you'd left for Father Christmas & his crew. You woke up really sleepy and

Sorry I just have to tell you quickly that Noah and Ben just put their bunny teddies in their shirts and then took turns laying on the coffee (operating) table and performed c-sections on one another with a nail file. Then they'd dramatically pull the bunny from under the shirts and now they're laying on the floor with their new babies trying to get them to sleep. Anyway...

3. You woke up really sleepy on Christmas morning and thought that Father Christmas got lost and didn't bring your presents. When we looked outside you found our little set-up and totally bought it. All of it. Your little faces were so full of wonder and excitement I couldn't even stand it. Too much little hearts - too much.

4. There's a beautiful river here at the mouth with little rock pools and warm, cool water to swim in. Benjamin swam alone (even in the deep end mommy) for the first time with his little water wings. I was super proud.

5. I cannot even explain to you guys how many spiders there are here. This house is basically ratanga junction for insects. We're surrounded by fynbos, proteas, wild flowers and basically the wilderness. You know when you notice one giant spider and then you start actually paying attention to your surroundings and notice other giant spiders absolutely everywhere? Don't ever do this.

6. The food. The guys have licenses and go out some mornings to take out a few crayfish. We braai most evenings (even did a pizza braai the other night - try it) and have healthy little lunches and lazy help-yourself breakfasts. It's so nice having your whole family and kids all around the dining table every evening. I have also started daring / paying the boys to eat things like blue cheese and lemon wedges. Benjamin has all my money.

7. The quiet. It's so quiet and beautiful all over the place here. We've got a big couch on the porch overlooking the garden and I love just sitting out there for hours watching the boys play with a little drink overlooking the ocean.

8. We've been so so so lucky with the weather. This area is known for being super windy in the holiday season, but we haven't had a single blustery day. The sun is out and it's hot and beach and swim weather every single day.

9. Sparklers in the dark. Every night when it's dark the boys run around with sparklers in the garden and draw pictures and write their names with the stardust. It's magical.

10. Noah put on a magic show for us. He was some sort of Batman magician and called us all to the garden to watch his magic tricks that he made up. Such a special, wonderful little imagination in that boy's head. He even made us tickets.

Right now the guys are out catching our dinner, my mom is having her coffee on the porch and the boys are putting their babies to sleep with couch pillows on the coffee table. Noah is telling everyone to be quiet and bossing Ben around about how to properly care for a newborn. Apparently Buns just woke his baby up and there is huge drama in their little family right now. I'm going to get the beach bags ready so we can head out as soon as the fishermen are back. It's a beautiful, warm and sunny day over here and I don't ever want to leave. I hope that you're enjoying every little moment of your holiday and that it's filled with relaxation and love. Travel safe guys - it is scary how many cars are on the road *cough cough GP number plates* Pictures!
