On Saturday morning I had some special training going on again - more on that later. I have a few aces up my sleeves and I can't wait to reveal the everything. Sarah-Jane attended the Kate Middleton Royal Baby Shower on my behalf - presented by Mama Mio and the Langaro Lifestyle Center. She had a blast... Here's what my Raising Men Representative had to say about the festivities! Over to Sarah...
The morning of the 8th of June was drizzling, chilly and over-all quite miserable, but this did not stop sixteen of Cape Towns most trendy beauty and lifestyle bloggers gracing the stunning Langaro Lifestyle Studio. The reason for the gathering - the most beautiful, luxurious baby shower hosted by the fabulous team at Mama Mio. And what an event it was!
Upon arrival at Langaro, we were greeted by the smiling faces of the Mama Mio team accompanied by a glass of champagne and orange juice. Glass in hand; I was whisked away on a private tour of the studio’s facilities by Duncan, one of the fabulous owners of Mama Mio.
I was completely blown away by the chic architecture and elegant finishings. The ground level of the Langaro studio has three treatment rooms, a gym space and hair salon, as well as the nail studio. Each setting was not only beautiful, but displayed immense attention to detail.

Having admired the lower level of the studio, I was then escorted upstairs to view more of the splendor that is the Langaro. I was not disappointed! There are two more treatment rooms, a Vichy shower room, and a room dedicated to couples therapies.
As this is a lifestyle studio, the Langaro caters for more that just your spa needs. Upstairs is a small but stylish boutique filled with beautiful hand picked (by Duncan and Kirsty) items from various international collections. Moving swiftly out of the boutique (only to save my quivering credit card) I was shown the elegant boardroom that can be hired for corporate occasions.
Having finished the (grand) tour and my glass of champers, I wandered back downstairs to meet and mingle with some of the other (lucky) attendees. My socializing did not last long though as Janine our host for the morning began her welcoming address.
Following that we were split into two groups, the first were sent for their pampering which included Mani’s, Pedi’s and a hair consultation. The second group followed Janine upstairs for some baby shower games and Mama Mio product consultations.
Platters of delicious treats, such as scones and Strawberry jam, Brie and fig-filled croissants, salmon and cream cheese tarts, and my personal favourite, red velvet cupcakes, were laid out for us to nibble on while we completed the games. With no shortage of Nespresso coffee, tea, and champagne, the morning was in full swing.
There were three ‘challenges’ that were set up for us, all relating back to the theme of the day – ‘Fit for a Queen’. The first was a trivia challenge, where we had to answer 15 questions about Princess Kate. I would love to say that I nailed it – but alas, I only got an (embarrassing) 8 out of 15(Side note the beautiful Camilla from All Dolled Up won this with an impressive 14 out of 15).
Not deterred by this clear lack of royal knowledge (perhaps because I was munching on a delicious red velvet cupcake), I moved onto the next game. Game two was to come up with the most absurd name for Princess Kate’s little one. There were some hilarious suggestions such as Corgi Pudding Dash and Rafferty Polo Willy the first. My contribution Princess Lily-Rose Hibiscus Chrysanthemum, the winners would be announced at the end of the festivities.
The third and final game was entitled ‘Guess the Little One’. Prior to the event, each blogger had to send in current photographs of themselves as well as one of them as a tiny tot. These were all jumbled up and then laid out in columns for us to match the blogger to the baby.
Feeling as if I had successfully matched all baby pictures to their bloggers I decided to find out more about Mamamio and what made their products different. I was intrigued by the brands quirky product names (Lizard legs and Boob Tube to name a few), which I found were just a small part of the brands larger personality.
Produced by four beauty specialists, Mama Mio started out as their personal products, but slowly word started getting out of an amazing new beauty product line. The four founders decided that they could not keep their products to themselves any longer and launched Mama Mio. All products have specific reasons for existing, targeting a unique need, and nothing is ever just produced because… Mamamio are also one of the only skin-care lines that have a maternity range. With bright fun colours, quirky names and products made from only the best ingredients it’s no wonder that this brand has a huge following ( me now included)
After a very informative chat about the Mama Mio products on offer as well as the company’s background, it was my turn to enjoy some of Langaro’s specialties.
I was seated at one of the three nail stations downstairs. Chantal was my manicurist and I have to say she did an incredible job. I then moved on to the gorgeous throne-like pedicure stations where Stella treated me to my mini pedi.
While sipping on my champers, enjoying being treated like a queen, Janine came down to announce the winners of the day’s games. I was completely gob-smacked when it was announced that I had won the ‘Guess the Little One’ game. My prize - a box of Mama Mio’s O Mega Super–Rich Body Cream (for lizard legs). I could not have been more thrilled.
Sadly, all the pampering did (eventually) have to come to an end and as the clock struck one, we started making our way home. To complete the mornings pampering, each guest left the event with a goodie bag from both Mama Mio and Langaro to remind us that we all deserve to be “the ultimate you”. The spoils included a tube of O.Mega Body oil, Mama Mio Fit Skin DVD and compact mirror and vouchers, nail polish and a Moroccan Oil hair treatment from Langaro (win).
Thanks to Janine and the Mama Mio team for the most beautiful baby shower and a special thank you to Duncan and Kirsty of Langaro for hosting a memorable event!
Wasn't that just such a special review guys? She's my representative for keeps. Thanks again Sarah-Jane! xx
