As you know - and I've been going on about it FOREVER - My dad and I went to Up The Creek yesterday. We packed a cooler box containing a lot of water, red bull, sunblock and snacks. We had a few drinks, we had a giant rubber ducky lilo and a pool noodle. Blankets.
We hit the road at about 7 / 8 am and got there at about 10 ish. Guys, it is bat country out there. Long roads and endless landscape that goes on forever. I kept tweeting and messaging being like "IS CALEDON TOO FAR - THERE ISN'T EVEN A PICK N PAY HERE, WHERE ARE WE?" where franchises don't even know your name. There were lots of little dorpies, which names I couldn't even pronounce. Riviersonderhandalkgaoituheuags;udgh;. That one. It was a beautiful drive, we listened to my new CD - Rock n Roll at the movies which has all sorts of those tracks from the 50s and so. Songs like "Take out the paper and the trash - Yakety Yak (don't talk back)" You know?
This was by FAR the best music festival that I've been to. So well organized, such fun and such a good vibe. No posers, no testosterone - just good music, people napping on the lilos and dancing in the water and the MC swearing at everyone DO NOT PEE IN THE RIVER. ATTENTION. Guys, f*&k man. DO NOT PEE IN THE RIVER. It was really funny. Whoever that MC was, he did such a good job - everyone loved him. Seeing my dad walk down to the river with a giant rubber ducky / frog (we weren't sure) and a drink just made my life complete. Also, the stage was IN the water.
We hung out, swam, ate some sarmies I'd made at home. I had a nap. My dad lost a flip flop. We had boerie rolls at the top, with nice tables, chairs - loads of trees and shade. Chatted for hours, then drove back at around 5ish with a supply of cappuccinos and more rock n roll. It was the best time. We would have slept over, but I need to work today :( Feeling really sad that my dad is at home and I'm in the office, but hey. Waiting on everything to upload now and taking a break from feeling bleak. The boys went out and got Noah's birthday gift this morning too. I have five forms of presentations, pitches and strategies to get out by 1pm tomorrow. Then it's Noah's birthday, my dad leaves, Paul arrives, I need to submit 3 other articles. All by Tuesday (!!!!!) I won't be blogging for a bit, but had to save this little memory in the interim. It sounds like EVERYBODY is really busy lately. Hope that all the Raising Men readers have a fantastic week filled with positive vibes and loads of good energy.
