You did good blog, you did good.

Bunny rabbit. While you were at the library yesterday, our home was being broken in to. You have such a good and loving nanny, you don't know. I'm sorry that I sent you to Silas, but it was too much for little bunnies to understand and you really did need your afternoon nap.

I'm glad that you boys are safe. That the nanny is safe. I'm glad that the burglars didn't know the value of some of my clothes, because they even took an R80 electric toothbrush but left my R1000 plus Zara blazers. They left my fur coats. My shoes. I thank them for their poor taste and lack of fashion sense. They were just things, and it's just money and almost everything could be replaced.

I can't replace the hard drive they took. About 500 gigs of pictures and video clips of you boys since birth. Today I thank my blog and my YouTube accounts. Thank goodness I'm the needy, bragging sort that emailed many videos of drooling babies to my friends and family over the years. Today I thank my outbox and personality flaws. I thank my obsessive-compulsive tendencies that I had backed up some of my work things an entire case of DVDs that was not taken.

The jewelry, iPads etc can be replaced. Did you really have to take my GHD though? You don't kick a girl when she's down. Especially not a girl with naturally frizzy, curly hair. That's just not cricket. I don't know what sort of person walks in to a kiddie bedroom and takes their dvd player with their favorite movie inside it. Also, did you really need our washing basket? I suppose to carry things in. Our things. PS I'm sort of glad you took Graeme's x-box. And thanks for not taking the passports.

Boys, the wind didn't blow the burglar guards off. The gate wasn't broken, but I couldn't tell you what happened, and I don't want you to feel unsafe at home. Nikki lent you her dvd player and you got home to a tidied house, as if nothing had happened, with your same bed time routine and movie time - like nothing was amiss. You didn't see all the police officers, security guys and workers getting everything fixed. You didn't see the chaos and mommy and daddy in a vulnerable state. I thank our friends for all of it - we have such a great support structure, without which things could never have run as smoothly as they did yesterday.

We've all been affected by SA crime in one way or another. It's a sad reality and it's part of living in such a beautiful country full of opportunities and wonderful people. I am so grateful to my blog for saving almost three years of pictures and memories that were stolen from my iPad and hard drive. And I thank the gods of bunnies for good friends and that everyone is okay.
