I had a horrible Friday night. Really. Sometimes boys really just don't think, but they're pretty willing to admit it -so not much of an argument there. We move on. The rest of the weekend was really good and warm and busy. We went to Deer Park for the first time. I love it there (because the kids love it there). I had a nice girl's night with some super nice, beautiful friends (who are also young moms) on Saturday night. It really is good to get out sometimes, leave the kiddos with the spouse / grandparents for a few hours and just be yourself. Not a mom, but just yourself. We avoided the Argus chaos on Sunday by taking a drive to Table View, I think it was called Blue Peter Beach and it was BEAUTIFUL. Really. New favourite beach, although I haven't been to Bakoven yet.
We are so lucky to be here. Often we would be driving home from an awesome day and G and I would just be like "What would we be doing if we were in Joburg right now?" and it's always a lame answer. Kiddies restaurant / garden with splash pool / park... And while those are great, we always felt so bored in Joburg, maybe because we grew up along the coast too. We love the beach / wine farms / mountain / forests / markets/ harbours and all the exploring that there is to do here. We have so many places that we still want to go to, like Boulder's Beach, where I hear you can swim with penguins? I've only ever seen one of those guys at the zoo. This is too awesome, really. And G wants to get Noah surfing now. Kai (his little friend his age) also surfs. And we can't wait until Noah can ride his bicycle properly, so we can go cycling in Hout Bay.
Also, the Knysna Oyster Festival is coming up, and the Cape Town Jazz Festival. We haven't even gone whale-watching in Hermanus yet! I'm really loving it here, we all are. The boys go to bed tired, with sun-kissed faces and sand in their hair. They don't watch dvds at ALL anymore, I want to move the television out of the house completely now. Nobody uses it. Oh wait, maybe I should wait for winter. Yes let's wait.
In the meantime, it's summer and we live in the most beautiful town that I have ever seen. Yay! *happy dance / air punch / bum wiggle.

| Deer Park has a huge, huge giant park, all shaded and fenced in. With a cafe overlooking all of it. That serves wine. |
