Some questions for Claire

Claire : 27, mother to Dylan : 2 yrs 3 months

What time does the little guy go to bed & wake up: Usually it was up by 5.30 and in bed by 7.30 with a nap somewhere in between. But now that my mom is here on holiday and it's summer (the sun goes down at 8pm) it's more like up at 8 and in bed by 10 and perhaps a nap in between if we're lucky.

Most challenging experience so far: I'm a single mom. Enough said?

Favorite thing about motherhood: How it makes you change for the better. I am less selfish. More understanding. I judge others less. I have more compassion. I am more organised. I cook healthier food and exercise more.

Most special "baby" memory so far: Every time he says "Mommy - I luff you vewi vewi mush"

The funniest / stupidest thing your child has done: The time Dyl found my mascara and applied mascara stripes up his forehead.

Best parenting advice ever received: Make the most of every moment because they grow up so fast.

How did your relationship with your partner change: I'm a single mom. Enough said?

First thing you do when child goes down for a nap / for the night: Nap? Run around frantically doing washing and cleaning and throwing his toys in a pile in his room.
For the night? Light a cigarette and pour a glass of wine.

What you miss about life before children: Reading a whole book. Watching entire movies. Showering/bathing/peeing on my own. Eating hot food. Adult conversation. Spending money on shoes and handbags.

What you're looking forward to: Watching him grow and learn. Every day is amazing. And every struggle is worth it for his happiness.

3 things you want to teach your child about life:
1. Treat others the way you want to be treated
2. Never take what you have for granted. Always count your blessings.
3. Surround yourself with positive people value you.

Favorite thing to do with your child/ren: Reading a bedtime story followed by a review of the day and a cuddle.

Give us a parenting tip: Don't smack. It only teaches your child that violence is the answer and the bigger/stronger person always wins.
