On Sunday Grays and I were invited to the Jacobs Kronung Baristas launch at Shimmy Beach Club. I definitely haven't been to such a fancy event before - it was really heavenly. There were loads of famous South Africans, models, tv crew, presenters, musicians and the Good Luck band. The venue was perfect, the food delicious and gourmet (Graeme put a deep fried mac and cheese ball in my mouth and I spent a good 20 minutes stalking all the canape servers to get another one) the wine and cocktails were delicious but you guys... the coffees!!
Jacobs is a very clever little coffee brand. They had demonstrations, competitions and a whole bar dedicated to making yummy frozen, cold and creamy coffees for us all afternoon. Coffee milkshakes, martinis, chillas and literally every different thing you can do with coffee was created and presented in the most delicious way. I need to tell you that the Amarula and Kahlua coffee shakes was by far my favorite, and the Iced Coffee Chilla which I make at home every day now. I used to go to my favourite coffee shop up the road to get a coffee crush every single day (for the past 3 years) but now I have no reason to ever leave my house again. Also, saving myself R29 a day - R580 a month by making these tasty wake-me-uppers at home every morning. You need to have a shaker, you need to have Jacobs (I have tried making frozen coffees with other coffee brands and I never really got it right). Incidentally - now that I have a Jacobs shaker & strainer, I've been finding all sorts of other things to make like Cosmopolitans but we'll talk about that another day!
You can also get Jacobs decaf coffee and make these delicious coffee shakes for your kids. There are loads of recipes on their Facebook page. Also, this is a really nice way of serving an after-dinner coffee to your guests at home. I'm going to go make one quick in 5 mins and show you at the bottom how to make an iced coffee in like 17 seconds with Jacobs. First... More on the event. Who even are all these good looking people? I basically sat in a corner drinking at least 7 coffees and staring at everyone with very wide eyes. However, whenever I set up a really cool shot for my Instagrams, they sommer all wanted to be friends and basically steal my shots. Cheeky!A few crews filmed me downing Jacobs coffee martinis that were too delicious to sip - so somewhere out there is some great footage of me being a greedy fatty face with a whipped cream mustache. SIGH.
And quickly, I'm going to show you how to make the Jacobs Iced Coffee Chilla. I got a free shaker in my goody bad, but they sell them at Mr P Home. I eyed them so many times, but never got around to it. If you have a blender: congratulations you can make ALL these things. I don't have one, and it makes my quite sad. If you really want to make this minus a shaker, I guess you could put it all in a big juice bottle to shake it up? Iced Coffee Chilla: 3 teaspoons Jacobs coffee, 60ml boiling water, 4 ice blocks, 1 cup milk, 3 tsps sugar. SHAKE! That's it. Look!
