I have big, BIG news involving the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival 2014

I have big news! Remember I won that competition to blog about the Knysna Oyster Festival last year? Keri and I went together and bungee jumped off the highest bridge bungee in the WORLD? Touched elephants, went whale watching, on a township tour, paragliding (sort of) and zip lined from branch to branch in a treetop obstacle course? Ate allll the oysters, drank the fanciest wines and dined at some of Knysna's finest restaurants. Really, the Oyster Festival is just one big party and culinary feast. This is also the week when I met and completely fell in love with Keri from Midlands Musings, now one of my closest friends! You will meet the most amazing people and have a total adventure.

Looks like fun, right? IT IS. So here is my big news... This year I have partnered with Knysna Oyster Festival again. I'm not going to lie, press trips are the very best. The accommodation, flights, restaurants, the Flavours festival... I am a lucky lucky lucky rabbit.

This year I've been asked to cover the sporting section. The cycling race, marathon, women's walk, there is SO much going on and it needs to be covered. Not one to stand on the sideline and tell you how tired the runners look (while sipping on unwooded chardonnay)... I HAVE ENTERED THE HALF MARATHON.

Please stop laughing.

Look I am a bit fitter now than I was a few months ago (not really) but I can't jog for more than like 4km at a time without a possible admission to hospital. I have 4 months to push myself and train to be the very best runner that I can be. I start training next week and have received loads of helpful links, guidelines and training calendars from friends online. I mean... the 2014 Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon & Half Marathon looks like this. How beautiful?

So registration opens up on the 4th of March. Get details via the Knysna Marathon Club here. And the race dates, times and organizer contact details can be found here. I will be at the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival from Thursday 10 -  Sunday 13 July this year and will be giving you feedback on my training as I go along. I am really a little bit frightened, but really excited to become a serious runner and to transform my body, health and strength as I go along. Also... very excited to re-visit some of my favourite restaurants, see Keri again and eat allll the oysters and drink allll the wine. In the meantime... See you at the promenade!
