Come with me real quick - to Betty's Bay & The Overberg in Western Cape

Last weekend we headed to the Overberg for the weekend. This is the area of Stanford, Hermanus, Grootbos, Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay, Kleinmond etc etc. Our absolute favourite place to be. My mom lives in Betty's Bay so we go there as often as possible. We are SUPER lucky. She has a beautiful house with a huge garden about 100m from the beach and surrounded by beautiful botanical gardens, fynbos, more beaches, a river, sand boarding, the harbor, little towns and beautiful views. The boys love it there and hate leaving (tantrums - often) and I love spending time with my mom and going for runs along the quiet roads. Graeme, Lester and Benjamin LOVE fishing while my mom and I paint our nails and watch the boys from the porch. Loads of lazy braais and exploring and tanning. It's our very favourite place to be.

Also, mom and Lester are always keen to watch the boys and do the bed time routine with them. On Saturday Grays and I snuck to the harbor at Kleinmond for some sun downers and then headed to The Tides - a restaurant in Betty's Bay that you neeeed to go to and you neeeed to book. The place was packed, the food was delicious and the company obviously great. I had the Pickled Herring Rollmops with Apple Salad as a starter (OMG) and Graeme had the Duck Livers with a Whiskey Cream Sauce and Crispy Bruchetta. We shared a Seafood Platter, a bottle of Blanc de Noir and the Boozy Tiramisu with Frangelico.

We went to Rooi Els beach for the first time and it's the very best beach especially for kids. The river flows on to the shore creating loads of warm pools for the kids, dogs (and mommy) to swim in. I know it's hard to believe (believe it!) but all these photos were taken on my cellphone - my new Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. Even at night, it takes perfect pictures - especially handy when photographing food in dark restaurants.
