Today marks the first working day of the new year. Also known as the day the boys went back to school and the nanny is back and I know what day of week it is. Such a perfectly cool day, promising mails in my inbox and a house as quiet as a baby mouse. It's going to be a GOOD year for all of us, I can feel it in my bunny tail.
I've started eating fiber bran every single morning and it's made the hugest (big like the sky) difference in my energy levels and erm... my *cough* well... Things are working like clockwork in well... it's like there's a little Thomas The Tank Engine down there marching around and getting things to the station on time. I wake up feeling thin & energetic, which makes such a difference as you know or can imagine. All Bran Flakes has created an instant porridge that is really delicious and effective. I found it next to the cereal boxes in the shops - it's a sachet and if you look super fast, it looks like a bag of washing powder, but it's NOT. It's a bag of energy and sunshine so get on it. I've started every day with a big glass of water, some fruit and some bran. I don't need coffee at allll anymore. I feel hydrated and nourished which is really rather awesome. Anyway.
I've been writing quite a bit. When Benjamin can't sleep he asks me to tell him a story. I need to get him to sleep in the dark, so reading from a book doesn't always work that well. Also, when he starts looking at the pictures he sits up and gets excited, so it's easier for me to just lay next to him and scratch his little back while making up all sorts of stories and things that his favorite Buttons and Honey get up to. Ben actually helps write my stories like last night he added the most perfect ending to the "lost in the woods" story. He said that the owl that was chasing the bunnies needs to have a time out and that we must find the mommy owl and tell her that he was being naughty. I thought that was quite clever. Definitely worked that in. Sometimes when I can't think of something cool, I ask Ben "and then what happens next?" and often he'll give the most adorable additions, but I'll tell you more about that later. Last night I told a story called Silly Bunnies are Very Scared of Spiders. It's about Honey and Buttons playing hop scotch in the forest (because rabbits are very good at hopping) but when they encounter a spider, things just get very very silly. I switched the lights on and Ben and I wrote the story together with loads of excitement. I don't know what happens at the end yet, but we'll make that part up later tonight. Kids really do tell the best stories. Lately I jot down the 'base' of the story and then it takes a few days or even weeks to shape and prose it properly. Sometimes I re-write everything, but I absolutely always test the stories on my little boys first. If their faces don't light up like a thousand suns, then it's just not good enough. We're getting there.
I've got loads to do and I'm so excited about this year and all the blank pages in my notebooks and journals. Who knows what will fill those pages, who we will meet, where we'll go and how we'll feel? Every day could be the beginning of your next adventure. Travel light & don't look down. Happy 2014 everyone. Let's DO this x
