Confessions of a busy mother, and horses. Obviously.

I haven't been writing. There is so much going on, and this past week has gone by faster than Noah's face to Rice Crispies. It's been intense.

My dad left recently, Paul left on ... was it Wednesday? I can't even talk about all the Oscar Pistorius drama.  Or our workload - the kids being sick, me and Graeme being sick. While I'm usually quite out-and-about, I admit I have been spending a lot of evenings in bed, blankly staring at reruns of 'The Nanny' in my work clothes, casually ignoring my children. Everything is just so... DEPRESSING lately. And I guess I'm angry, about a lot of things - about people, life - the world. Really.

As usual, when I'm at my busiest and saddest, a mountain of opportunities arrive all at once. There are some very big and very exciting things happening right now. There are some really bad things happening right now.

You know kids - there are meanies out there. Horrible little monsters that pass as regular people, and you need to be so careful. Some people seek pleasure in hurting others, and only feel value in themselves by disintegrating other people's happiness. It's a strange, horrible world sometimes and you need to keep your head up so high that they can't even look you in the face.

It's also been a very special week filled with love, family and big news. Here are a few snapshots from last weekend, especially Sunday which turned out to be such a wonderful day. I love making the family little mini breakfast platters, reading the paper and having delicious lunches with the family.

Right now I'm at work, on a Sunday - for about the third weekend in a row. Tomorrow there's a conference, Tuesday I'm being interviewed for a little fancy television show and then it's Design Indaba, where Graeme's new design is being released. He has taken a whole week off of work to prepare. So exciting! I really am grateful for every opportunity that's been presented to us as the result of hard work. It's so rewarding to see the results come flying in, like pies hitting you smash in the face - ready or not!

Here's to the week after next week being positively un-busy. All I want to do is roll around in the garden with the boys, and get some last sunshine in before winter shows its ugly face.

Graeme and Paul turned this old vintage fan in to a lamp - how clever? The fan switch is now the light switch!
