Benjamin's birthday is getting alarmingly closer. I've got the venue - he is going to love it. I'm definitely doing a Peter Rabbit theme. I want to bake the cake myself (somehow) so I'm just collecting bits and bobs and hope that it all comes together eventually.
Mostly, I can't believe that my little bunny is turning two. His life seems to be zipping right past me. With Noah it was ALL about him - I was so focused and attentive and involved in everything he did. When the second comes along, it doesn't seem fair. I feel so guilty because I know how much attention Noah got in comparison and I know it's not the same for Ben, but he is so happy and confident and full of beans. Why do I feel so guilty all the time?
I'm also trying not to feel bad that he is having three little birthday parties. One with the nanny and his friends on the day, a Spur trip that night with just us - and a big 'Peter Rabbit' one over the weekend. It's too much I know.
Benjamin, at 'almost two' you are talking - almost fluently, you're about ninety percent potty trained, you're so happy and enthusiastic and downright adorable. My heart pumps raspberries when I look at you, I'm so in love. I wish I could just freeze you right here, before you get in to spiderman and girls and tv games and just keep you right here where your life is consumed by family, rabbits, botties and chocolate. I love you with all my mommy heart and we're all so proud of you.
It's going to be beautiful! Honsestly I think second borns in general are blessed with the confidence to cope with being the second borns and we as moms have the knowledge to channel that courage and confidence
