Things got all kinds of awesome and crazy at Joburg's Cresta shopping center when a series of normal everyday events suddenly turned out to be a little weird. Think synchronised swimmers sunbathing in the middle of the mall, plants shaking unexpectedly, dustbins moving around, runaway trolleys and people bouncing around on pogo's. Sounds like fun right?
The Amazing World of Gumball is a multi-award-winning animated sitcom for 6-11 year olds shot using a unique combination of live action backgrounds with 2D and 3D animation. I really love the mix of mediums that they've used on this. The show looks super quirky and weird, which we're a huge fan of in the Raising Men home.
It follows the chaotic life of the Watterson family: stay-at-home dad Richard, a giant pink rabbit; hard-working mum Nicole, who rules the roost; four-year-old genius bunny Anais; Darwin, a goldfish with legs and, at the center of it all, 12-year-old Gumball himself, incurably optimistic, charmingly stupid, always up for staggeringly silly adventures and hopelessly in love with his schoolmate Penny, a peanut with antlers. ----> How rad?
The Amazing World of Gumball is also a digital hit. The show’s site on the Cartoon Network website has had over 50 million page views and the show’s Facebook page has more than 700,000 likes.
Watch The Amazing World of Gumball on Cartoon Network, DSTV channel 301 on Wednesdays at 17:25.
