Freshline and Raising Men doing delicious things together.

I have a special relationship with food. My mom had always given us very healthy meals as kids, and she cooks from scratch. I don't think that any of us received a frozen or pre-made meal in our lives. She is an Afrikaans gal to roots, and it's just how things were and are. Everything was made fresh, right down to cheese sauce (with flour and butter and milk) to home made salad dressing (honey, vinegar, olive oil and mustard). My grandmother is the same. Our family likes to cook. Not award-winning, gourmet dishes, but man... We like to peel them potatoes.

I've recently teamed up with Freshline and I couldn't be happier. I already use their products every day, so this is a total pleasure. I love their Rye Bread and the individually packed Carrot and Bran Muffins. Obviously we love all their fruits and vegetables as my family eats like rabbits. Their wholewheat rolls are really good and last long. I'm going to be posting a few amazing recipes this week and going forward. I took photos of almost everything we ate at home this weekend.

I cannot stress the importance of eating fresh, low-in-the-food-chain, crispy, crunchy raw meals. Roots, berries, fruits, rye, bran, nuts, vegetables, beans. You just must. I have a little poster next to the stove at home and it says "Let's do something amazing" and I know that time is tight, kids can be fussy - but making meals colorful and fun could be a daily. Also, eating raw foods means cutting down on prep and cooking time. I do not spend more than twenty minutes preparing a meal during the week (I just can't) and this is how we do it at home. Will post recipes soon. I have more exciting news about all of this, but more on that later. Right now, please note that all these meals were made incorporating Freshline products. And they were amazing.

My kitchen. I am so excited for all those pears to be ready to eat. Guacamole times. I think I'll make... Mexican?

Breakfast for my boys. Wholewheat roll, half an egg, balsamic roasted tomatoes, rocket, cheese, nuts and fruit. YUM.

Benjamin is really, really excited about his breakfast. Noah's disappeared in about seven minutes flat.

Lunch: Rye with tuna, mayo, lemon juice, carrots, spinach, cheese and red pesto. Use veggies to make faces. Such fun!

Alida Ryder's Simply Delicious Banana and Peanut Butter Cake with Pecan Nuts. I'm doing a post about this with recipe

This really is the healthiest cake that I've ever made. The boys loved it. Alida is such a gem, her new book is amazing.
