I've been back in the 'grown up' world for almost a week and I really am loving it. There hasn't been a huge shift in routine at home, as I get home between 5:15 and 5:30, so I don't think that the boys have really noticed any change.
On Tuesday night I really almost lost the little bit of the plot that I have left. Benjamin is teething something ridiculous, and Noah has a little bit of flu. I don't actually know how we made it through the night. The boys woke up every hour. We played musical beds all night between the bunk beds and our bed. At one point I slept on the couch because I could just not deal anymore. Bunny drank four bottles of rooibos between Graeme and I (and bottle runs) and threw up something terrible. All over the bedding. All over the warmest blanket in the house. So the rabbit and I had a warm bath in the middle of the night to get him cleaned up and relax him a bit. I would guestimate that I got around two or three hours sleep. It was like having two newborns in the house. No, worse. These 'newborns' could run around the house and wake you by shouting in your face, which is a lot more confrontational than hearing a distant wail of a baby, I find.
Obviously I had to be at work the next morning, which was actually alright. I think I am pretty much running on adrenaline at the moment.
More bulk orders have come in through the Sitting Lamp, and I received a few rather attractive emails regarding my blog this week. I'm working on something really special for Mandela Day this year. I love that so many people approach me with ideas. I love (love love) getting involved in new projects. I've been asked to write for a magazine, and we've submitted some information for a blog feature in another. Things are busy and exciting and exhausting and wonderful right now.
Graeme's mom moved here last weekend / this week! She now lives in a beautiful little house in Tokai. Also, my ENTIRE family might be moving here soon. This has a lot to do with Noah. Every time he speaks to my mom on the phone, he tells her to "Put your house on a truck and come see me". You can't really argue with that. Every time we tell Noah that someone is coming to visit or moving here, he looks very satisfied with his efforts. I can see him saying "Dance puppets, dance" in a ridiculously hilarious Stewie (Family Guy) voice in his head.
Benjamin is talking. And teething. Three is MUCH harder than two. I don't even know why people think that two is difficult at all. We're doing a lot of time-outs right now, which aren't really working. I threatened Noah the other day, I was all "Clean up this (huge) mess right now or you ARE getting a time-out!" He looked at the situation for a good while and said "I think I will have a time-out mommy". I mean, what do you even say to that? *Arms in air
I have also found that wine works very well for teething. For the baby, try Panado syrup. I am on a glass a night at this point, which I'm not sure is really a 'problem' but more a solution right now. I am almost at the point of hiding hard liquor in the laundry basket, but 'somehow' keeping things together. Until further notice.
Here are some beautiful pictures of my new work space. This management thing is pretty new to me. I am kind of expecting someone to put briefs on my desk any minute and then I am like "Oh, right, I'm supposed to be doing the briefing" which is unnerving to say the least but man alive... I love this place.
