I only *just* added this voting button to my blog. You know, if you click on it then you could vote for your favorite mommy blogger. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
I've had mixed feelings about the competition as, well... There are blogs out there that talk about what to do when your kid has a fever and teething and posts that are actually useful. I would not say that this is the BEST 'parenting' blog. I don't think that I offer much value to readers in terms of information. Still don't really know why all these readers are here. Some months about thirty thousand people stop by and I am just like "Oh fiddle. Better start proof-reading posts or something."
I don't know what type of blog I have. I don't know if it's really a mommy-blog. I don't know how many of my readers are actually parents. To be honest. I think it's more a lifestyle / personal blog, but hey... Don't tell my sponsors.
Some people take their blogs very seriously. Some are completely reliant on it for income. I don't think that I'm the stereotypical soccer mom. I'm not too interested when your kid cut his first tooth. I couldn't tell you how old Noah was when he said his first word. I did arts and crafts with the kids and was bored within ten minutes. Of course, I do these things for them, but I mean... It's not what I would be doing with my free time sans kids. I don't even read parenting blogs. You know, the ones that are just filled to the brim with articles on parenting styles and whether or not you are raising an axe murderer or whatever they're about. I'm not in to that stuff. You know, axe murderers and such.
I'm a super loving mother with a sense of humor and a fear of forgetting. A desire to make pretty at all times. Best mother in the world? Not really. Perfect? Nah. Normal? Not that either. I can't really find this box that I'm supposed to be in. It really is a case of "This porridge is too hot - This one is too cold."
I like beautiful things. And ideas. Design. Words. Photography. Typography. Restaurants. Port. Wine. Food. I collect boxes. I love Cape Town. Getting out the house. I'm strange. Graeme is strange. The kids are hilarious. Do I blog with parents in mind? Not really. Are there better, proper 'Mommy' bloggers out there? Most certainly. There are loads of mommy bloggers that actively provide a service to their readers, which is not really my thing. I am a bit selfish and like to post all the cool things on my blog for my own personal benefit, you know?
However, if you're a parent, and you feel that Raising Men adds value to your life, then please vote for me by clicking on that pretty little badge in the top right corner of my blog, or click on this link.
There is only one vote per person allowed, and I am about eighteen days late here, but you know. I'm always late for everything.
