"I am hurrying up. I just hurry up slower than you." -Lola

Something my kids really love watching is Charlie and Lola. I love the way that Charlie and Lola talk, how expressive, descriptive, articulate and proper they are. Like, Charlie would comment that Lola (his little sister) has had the same glass of water next to her bed for two days and Lola replies "But Charlie, what if I were to wake in the middle of the night? Absolutely and completely... Thirsty?" I think it's my favorite scene on the dvd we have, and unfortunately we only have the one as yet.

A funny / awesome thing has happened. Since the boys have been watching, Noah is talking like a little gentleman. His words are kinder, he is using more adjectives and adverbs which makes me a very happy mommy. He just sounds so... Eloquent. Like instead of "I want cereal" he is all "I think it is time for my morning breakfast mother". You know? I mean, you can correct your kids' grammar all you can, but it is rather and completely (talking like Lola here) different when they pick it up / are brainwashed by two very adorable fictional characters that they adore.

I also love it when the boys watch Lady and the Tramp and the original Alice in Wonderland for the same reasons. I love the way that Alice talks. "Well I'm very fond of tea. Have a cup of tea indeed! Well, I just haven't the time." I really am loving my conversations with Noah lately. He is such a gentleman.

In other news, Miriam is busy teaching him to count to ten in Shona and I am teaching him in Afrikaans. We started with colors last week. He knows "geel, blou, rooi" and "een twee drie". He is so interested in everything right now. It's downright contagious.
