Natalie from Tails Of A Mermaid just adopted a sweet little cat from DARG (non-profit organization that rescues, cares for and re-homes abused and neglected animals). They are open seven days a week until four pm, which is great. We're heading there on Sunday to have a look around. They seem to have dogs, cats and rabbits up for adoption.
Our garden is too small and we sincerely do not have the time to train and take care of a dog properly. We don't. Not now and not for a good couple of years. I worry that Benjamin is too small to handle an animal properly at this point. I don't know. He is good with them and squeals like a baby seal when he sees anything with a tail. He loves little creatures like you won't believe. Noah doesn't really care for them to be honest. We took him to the zoo a few times and he played on the swings etc. I was like, "Look a LION" and he was all "Can we get more ice cream?". Benjamin literally throws himself at anything fluffy. I should really take a video clip of his reaction when he sees even a teddy bear. It's intense.
So we're going to look around, and we're going to think and talk it all over for a while. I want to see how Benjamin is in terms of handling. He is not great with Chicken (our hamster) despite his good intentions. To be fair, Chicken is obviously a great deal smaller than our future daughter cat. In all seriousness, I would not let an animal free in our home if my boys do not respect and understand it. I'm going to start training them with like, stuffed animals tonight. I love animals so much and I feel that they really make a house a home. I've always wanted a cat and I have already reserved a spot for her at the foot of our bed / in front of the fireplace/ on the mantlepiece / on my lap.
How sweet is Natalie's Babycat?? I think she should call this lady Birdie as per her list. I will be using one of the names that I was saving for one of my daughters. As one does.
