Dear Blue Water Cafe: You suck.

On Sunday (yesterday) we went to Imhoff Farm in Kommetjie. Blue Water Cafe is nice, but pretty expensive in a not-worth-it way. It's a beautiful place and there are other places in the same block that are probably a lot more organized and just as nice, so look around.

They have a little touch farm attached to the restaurant, horses, a big park, ice cream cones for the kids and sea views. The staff could have been friendlier, more attentive. It was windy outside, so we moved inside. There were nine of us including the kids, and they seated us at a six seater table. When I asked about it, the waitor was all "Do you want to move again?" and seemed annoyed. Um, yes I want my children to eat at a table, not on the floor? It was weird man. At the touch farm: There was no supervisor around the animals. A lot of kids were running free in there and there were like three cases where I shouted at different kids "Don't chase the rabbits! / Don't pick the rabbit up by it's ear! / Don't kick the rabbit!" I am not kidding. Also, there was a basin provided for kids to wash their hands, but there was no soap in the dispenser. The kids were petting pigs and rabbits and sheep and I don't even want to know how many of them mingled back to their lunches. In the restaurant bathroom, there was no stepladder for kids to wash their hands either. Very strange for an establishment that is obviously aiming at families.

Would I go back there again? Definitely not. The food was good, but too expensive. The petting zoo wasn't really in favor of the animals, there was only one high chair for Benjamin and it was secretly broken (if you picked it up, the legs came apart). They're trying really hard to attract kids, but forget about them as soon as they're there it seems. The bathrooms were also dirty, there was a single hand towel that was soaked and full of gross-ness. We seated the kids at a table behind ours and the waitor didn't clear the wine glasses, cutlery sets, steak knives so there was a lot of fussing, I couldn't relax and eat my lunch.

I left feeling tired and annoyed to be honest. At least the company was good, so it was still a great day! I love the Candice and her kids and parents, that Noah now calls Ouma and Oupa. Too sweet.
