Noah Nicholas William turned three yesterday. We didn't do a big deal thing. We invited Claire & her Dylan and had a little picnic at Kirstenbosch. It was beautiful, but really really hot. I think that everyone was a bit lethargic (except the kids, of course). I did a little Noddy theme, got a cake and some picnic things at Woolies. This is huge for me. Usually I would order an extravagant (read: R800) birthday cake two weeks in advance, plan everything down to the finest detail. This was a chilled day. Too chilled. Stopping at three different shops in the heat with screaming kids in car on the way to birthday party is NOT IDEAL. Walking with all that stuff to find a spot in the shade, also not great.
I will get it right eventually. Noah had an awesome day, especially splashing in the water fountain on the way home. People stopped and laughed at them, some people took pictures. Everyone was a bit jealous that the kids got to do it, run around in the water. It was really, really hot here yesterday.
We got him some DVDs, (Charlie and Lola, Thomas the Tank Engine), a race track carpet for his room, some clothes, a sherif gun and some water pistols. He loved his little presents, and all the sweets and songs and special attention. I let him stay up until midnight, watching DVDs and eating chocolates. It was his birthday, after all. One day he will want to go out and drink beer until that time, instead of cuddling in bed with me. Until then, look at this adorable little family of mine. I'm a lucky girl you know.
| Full on panic attack. Really. They were pecking right next to my face. I cried. Noah laughed. Sigh. |
| Hate all of you. Not really. You know what I mean. |
