Settling in. And loving it.

1. This house is beautiful and awesome.

2. I have never seen Noah happier. Dylan, Molly and Malakai are his nbfs. They are so adorable together!

3. Benjamin loves the beach. In short stints. Noah is a natural beach bum.

4. I am so relaxed, despite the chaos. If I trip over one more box, I'm going to kill a bunny.

5. I have SABC in the house. I don't know how I feel about this TV thing.

6. My new favorite thing is vodka and cranberry / cherry juice. And the fact that it takes me about seventeen steps to get to the bottle store.

7. I couldn't have done this move smoothly without my Claire. I love you pudding. We both reached a point where we just wanted to go home, get away from the kids, the chaos. Then we had drinks instead and it was brilliant.

8. Another of my special friends is also moving to Cape Town. Next month!

9. We have been so busy, doing touristy things, unpacking, settling. Tonight is the first night that I'm not out or don't have people over. I LOVE that we have so much company here.

10. The Sitting Lamp has made friends with a few stores and more magazines. Big things on the way!

11. This morning we took a train to Kalk Bay. Watched the fishermen offload their catches, listened to their crazy stories, ate fish and chips, watched the seals, went for ice cream, walked around, had a few cocktails and took the boys to St James beach where they played in the rock pools. I don't know why the fek we stayed in Joburg so long.

12. Yesterday I bought the sexiest vintage style, three piece bikini. At the Hout Bay market. The lifestyle here is so active, the food so delicious and healthy. The sun so warm. The breeze cool. I've lost weight, I'm tanned, I have energy. I have not had a cup of coffee since I got here.

13. Ben is teething something terrible. Or he is just getting over stimulated. Something is really annoying him. Noah hides under the towel on the beach when it gets too windy. The other moms stare, and I'm just like shame, they're from Joburg.

14. I have the hottest couch you have ever seen. The most beautiful bathroom. Really, it has a skylight. I have two fireplaces, wooden floors. This house feels like home.

15. Chicken survived the truck ride here. Yes, he rode passenger seat with the movers. He's awesome. The driver even bought him a tub of lettuce at kfc. That's right, take-away hamster lunch for one.

16. I have also been working and going for interviews amongst all this. More on that later.

17. Ben and I went horse riding. I forgot home much I love riding. How completely relaxing it is to trust such a beautiful animal.

18. Wembley Square has a sushi place that has insane sushi specials from 5 to 7 every day. I am talking R12.50 for eight pieces of tempura veg sushi. I've been twice since I got here.

19. I love watermelon. And mint. And rocket. They're my new favorite things.

20. I miss my mom and Paul. I miss Alice.

21. Its almost Noah's third birthday. 5 February! Any family and friends reading this: he says he doesn't want toys. He wants board shorts, beach umbrellas, beach towels, sun hats. I am not kidding. My washing machine says the same thing.

22. We all love Cape Town. And I think it loves us too. I see good things happening here. I see a lot of happiness. I am so grateful.
